NY Times employees stage walkout

After an internal memo informing the New York Times copy desk that there be layoffs in their department, a memo informing the head honchos that a 15-minute walkout protesting the decision was coming, too. The layoffs would cut the copy staff by 50 percent leaving 50 copyeditors. "You often speak about the importance of engaging readers, of valuing, investing in and giving a voice to readers. Dean and Joe: We are your readers, and you have turned your backs on us," the letter to the Executive Editor Dean Baquet and Managing Editor Joseph Kahn reads.
