Dinosaurs might have originated in the Northern Hemisphere, in an area known as the United Kingdom today. This is one conclusion of the first re-evaluation of the relationships between dinosaurs for 130 years. This research shows that the current theory of how dinosaurs originated and evolved might be wrong. The reassessment shows that dinosaurs like the Tyrannosaurus rex and Velociraptor were wrongly placed in the dinosaur family tree. Another implication is that dinosaurs emerged 15 million years earlier than previously believed. Fossil evidence also suggests that the origin of dinosaurs may have occurred farther north than was previously concluded.
