Amazon Web Services went down for most of Tuesday, which resulted in a lot of websites losing functionality, speed and several just crashing altogether. Amazon's web hosting services are one of the most widely used across the internet. A number of services went offline as a result of "high error rates" in one region of its S3 web services. Many websites couldn't upload photos to their posts and several went offline altogether. Trello, IFTTT, Quora, Splitwise and even IsItDownRightNow.com were offline for several hours. Amazon said it resolved the issue around 5 p.m. Tuesday.
