Delta problems, the Masters and more to chat about

WHEN IT RAINS, IT POURS

Delta Customers have their panties in a wad after the airline canceled or delayed over 3,000 flights the past five days.  The Federal Aviation Administration issued a five-hour-long ground stop for Atlanta flights after severe weather hit on Wednesday. Atlanta’s is Delta’s busiest airport but 350 flights were grounded and 70 flights were canceled. On Thursday, the Detroit and Twin Cities airports were affected by storms that caused delays and cancellations. There have been over 130 cancellations and 650 delays on Sunday.

GROWTH DIPS

The job market only added 98,000 jobs in March. According to economists, severe winter storms affected hiring. Since the weather is a temporary factor, it might not be an indication of a complete slowdown. The unemployment rate is at 4.5 percent.

HHGREGG

Electronics store hhgreg is the latest retailer who plans on permanently closing. The bankrupt company is closing 220 stores, creating 5,000 layoffs by the end of May.  After 62 years of operating, the company failed to acquire a buyer after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.  According to a Bankruptcy Court ordering, customers will not receive returns greater than $2,850 on products bought prior to March 6, 2017.

ROCKIN’ N’ ROLLIN

The six musicians were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. ELO, Joan Baez, Journey, Pearl Jam, Yes and Tupac Shakur were added at the 32nd annual ceremony. Tupac is the first solo artist rapper to enter the Hall of Fame. David Letterman ended up introducing Pearl Jam after Neil Young had to skip out due to illness. The ceremony will air April 29 on HBO.

MASTERED

Sergio Garcia, after three top-10 Masters appearance, has finally earned a green jacket. He is the third Spaniard to win the Masters.  It was a two-man game toward the end of the tournament. Justin Rose and Garcia were tied after 72 holes at nine strokes under par. But Rose bogeyed the 19th hole and Garcia birdied his hole.

OH MAN, OH MAN

Thirty-five points in 29 minutes. That’s about a point every 1.2 minutes DeMar DeRozan scored in the Raptor’s game against Knicks. The Toronto Raptors beat the New York Knicks 110-97.  The Toronto team has secured the third spot in the Eastern Conference Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavilers. Number 1 seed is still open for grabs in the Eastern conference. There are exactly three days left in the regular season before the NBA playoffs begin
