One of Jimi Hendrix's most famous songs in "All Along the Watchtower." Except it isn't his original song—it's Bob Dylan. Aretha Franklin's "Respect" was Otis Redding's first. Some songs just fit a different artist a little or a lot better.

Here are nine covers that are better than the original.

1. "Ain’t Me Babe" —Joan Baez covers Bob Dylan

2. "Jolene"— Miley Cyrus covers Dolly Parton

3. "Hurt" — Johnny Cash covers Nine Inch Nails

4. "All Along the Watchtower" — Jimi Hendrix covers Bob Dylan

5. "Hallelujah"— Jeff Buckley covers  Leonard Cohen

6. What Would You Do? Bastille covers City High

7. "Twist and Shout" — The Beatles cover The Isley Brothers

8. "Respect"— Aretha Franklin covers Otis Redding

9. "Proud Mary" — Ike and Tina Turner cover Creedence Clearwater Revival
